COONTEC Appoints Junseop Kim, Key Developer Behind Alyac, to Strengthen AI Security Product Development and Commercialization

August 4, 2026 - COONTEC, a convergence security specialist, announced that it has appointed Junseop Kim, who led the development of the Alyac antivirus product, as Executive Vice President and Head of Cybersecurity Technology to strengthen its AI security technology and product commercialization capabilities.

Since August 3, Kim has been overseeing COONTEC’s cybersecurity technology strategy and R&D organization. He will be responsible for security product roadmap planning, selection of R&D initiatives, quality management, and advancement of service operations, while leading the planning, development, and commercialization of new AI security products.

COONTEC plans to expand its AI security product portfolio by combining its existing convergence security technologies with Kim’s experience in developing, commercializing, and operating large-scale security products. The company will also strengthen its system for translating R&D outcomes into actual products and business opportunities.

Kim has spent approximately 25 years in software and information security, focusing on security product development and commercialization. He led the development and launch of the early anti-spyware product PC Keeper and the free antivirus Alyac, helping grow Alyac into a security service used by approximately 16 million people.

He later led the development of the cyber threat intelligence service Threat Inside and endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions. He previously served as Head of the Security Business Division at ESTsoft and Executive Vice President at ESTsecurity, and currently serves as a professor in the Department of Artificial Intelligence Cyber Security at Korea University Sejong Campus.
