COONTEC Wins Minister of Korea AeroSpace Administration Award at 2025 K Aerospace Open Innovation
FastVLabs recognized for excellence as a platform capable of executing and validating flight control software
COONTEC, a DX security specialist, announced on the 11th that it received the Minister of Korea AeroSpace Administration Award at the 2025 K Aerospace Open Innovation program.
K Aerospace Open Innovation is a program that identifies innovative ideas from companies based on real technology needs presented by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) in space, aviation, AI, and autonomous systems, and supports selected companies through technology demonstrations, joint development, and investment connections. The program was hosted by the Korea AeroSpace Administration and organized by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), the Korea Innovation Foundation, the Jinju Innopolis at Gyeongsang National University, and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute.
COONTEC received the Minister of Korea AeroSpace Administration Award at the 2025 K Aerospace Open Innovation awards ceremony held on November 26. As one of three award-winning companies selected this year, COONTEC was highly evaluated for proposing technology to develop a digital twin-based virtual flight environment in the aviation field.
In particular, COONTEC was recognized for its technical competitiveness by proposing a digital transformation approach for aviation software using its virtualization-based vECU development and validation platform, FastVLabs.
FastVLabs is a platform that provides a digital twin development environment capable of executing and validating flight control software without physical hardware, based on Level 4 full virtualization technology.
By reducing dependence on physical equipment and enabling aviation software such as Operational Flight Programs (OFPs) to run without binary modification, the platform can improve both development efficiency and test reliability.
FastVLabs has already been applied in various demonstration projects, including virtualization of KAI’s FA-50 FLCC flight control computer and the development of a nuclear power plant digital twin for Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power. This award is regarded as another official recognition of the platform’s technical capabilities and market value based on those achievements.
During the evaluation process, particular attention was given to FastVLabs’ ability to provide an environment that can be tested immediately without equipment installation and to improve quality through repeatable validation under identical conditions. The platform was also highly rated for enabling teams to easily test diverse scenarios from the early development stage, helping shorten schedules and eliminate potential risks in advance.
Along with the official award, COONTEC will receive various forms of support, including commercialization funding from KAI, joint R&D matching, strategic investment review, and follow-up growth programs from the Korea Innovation Foundation, the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, and Gyeongsang National University. The Korea AeroSpace Administration also supports selected companies in overseas exchanges and participation in international programs.
Building on this award, COONTEC plans to accelerate the advancement of digital twin-based simulation technologies for the aerospace sector centered on FastVLabs and actively expand new business opportunities through collaboration with industry, academia, and research institutions.
