  • Collaboration targets software validation environments and new market opportunities across multiple industries
  • Partners to develop customized virtual validation platforms and pursue global market expansion

COONTEC, an embedded virtualization specialist led by CEO Hyukjun Bang, announced on the 9th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with simulation specialist dSPACE Korea to build software validation environments and explore new market opportunities.

The agreement is part of a strategic technology collaboration aimed at improving software safety and reliability across a wide range of industries, including future mobility. The two companies will focus on establishing SIL (Software In the Loop)-based virtual validation environments, integrating their solutions, and strengthening their ability to identify new markets in Korea and overseas. Through close cooperation, they plan to jointly develop customized virtual validation platforms tailored to industry-specific requirements and accelerate the development of joint strategies for the global embedded systems market.

SIL is a key technology that enables embedded software used in vehicles, defense systems, industrial control systems, and other fields to be validated in a virtual environment without physical hardware. It can improve development efficiency and quality, reduce development costs, and help identify defects at an early stage. SIL is gaining particular attention as a foundational technology for next-generation software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and also has strong potential in defense and specialized industries that require precise simulation.

COONTEC provides a platform for efficiently developing and validating complex control software without physical hardware through its in-house embedded virtualization solution, FastVLabs. As dSPACE's first official partner, COONTEC plans to advance industry-specific validation frameworks by combining FastVLabs with dSPACE's model-based development (MBD) technologies under the new MOU.

dSPACE is a Germany-based global mobility simulation and validation company that supplies toolchains for vehicle ECU and embedded software development and validation, including HIL (Hardware In the Loop) and SIL environments. Its solutions are widely used by leading global automakers and component manufacturers and are also applied across autonomous driving, electric vehicles, SDVs, defense, and aerospace research.

FastVLabs is a Level 4 hardware virtualization solution based on instruction set simulator (ISS) technology and has been applied across a variety of embedded industries, including Korea Aerospace Industries and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power. The solution can also integrate with dSPACE through FMI (Functional Mock-Up Interface). The MOU is expected to further accelerate the construction of SIL-based software validation environments and the exploration of new markets through closer technical collaboration between the two companies.

Hyukjun Bang, CEO of COONTEC, said, “This agreement will be an important turning point in advancing virtualization-based validation frameworks. Through our collaboration with dSPACE Korea, we will strengthen our technological differentiation not only in SDVs but also in defense and specialized industries where high reliability is essential.”
